Gîte d'Étape Les Astragales
Gîte d'Étape Les Astragales is a backcountry lodging base in the Queyras (Hautes-Alpes), positioned for trail-focused trips in both summer and winter. It serves as a starting/ending point for the GR 58 tour of the Queyras and also sits on the itinerary of the GR 5, making it a natural stop for long-distance walkers and backcountry days “in étoile.”
The hut runs seasonally for winter access from 26 December to 5 April. On-site, hosts provide full meal service (meals prepared in-house, with locally produced ingredients much of the time) and make bread from local and organic products when available.
For after-days, there’s a sauna on site, and the rooms all have showers; most rooms have been renovated. For vehicle users, a large closed garage is available, which can be useful when connecting to motorcycle, bicycle, or VTT outings.
