Kings Creek Hut

Kings Creek Hut is a standard 20-bunk backcountry hut in Kahurangi National Park (Nelson/Tasman region), run by the Department of Conservation. Use is first-come, first-served—standard hut bookings aren’t required, but you do need a hut ticket for each night in an honesty box, with an option for a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most standard and serviced huts for 12 months.

Fees apply ($10 per night for adults 18+, $5 per night for ages 5–17, free for children/infants 0–4 through 30 June 2026). The hut includes drinking water isn’t provided; there’s a fireplace, mattresses, and toilets with a pit latrine setup.
