La Gentille Vieille

La Gentille Vieille is a small alpine shelter used as a waypoint for ski and hiking activity near the French-Swiss border in the Jura mountains (Doubs). It’s a rustic, unmonitored gîte set in an area with no tourist facilities, and it’s managed through the CAF Haut-Doubs.

Use is seasonal: it’s available for the ski season and walking/hiking season from 1 November to 15 May. Outside that period, the place is reserved for pastoral activities. Overnight stays are typically handled without a standard online booking system; plan to contact the club for keys and access details.

In winter, it sees use for activities such as snowshoeing, alpine and ski touring, and related winter disciplines (including telemark). Access is normally tied to obtaining a key during the period when it’s open.
