Alpine hut

La Poutouille is a backcountry hut on the Jura crest at 1,446 m in the Haute Chaîne du Jura. The chalet has two sections: a refuge area for hikers and a gîte section that is reserved for residents of the commune of Péron.

Use of the refuge is open all year round. The refuge part accommodates up to 8 people (6 mattresses for hikers) and is equipped with a wood-burning stove, a kitchen, and solar-powered lighting with USB sockets; wood is supplied by the association for fueling the stove. Outside, there’s a non-potable water source for rinsing/cleaning cooking gear—bring drinking water with you.

The gîte portion has 14 beds but requires access through the Péron town hall reservation/key process. A small financial contribution is requested; payment is in cash (and also via bank transfer). Fireplace use is available via the wood-burning stove, and camping is prohibited in the Haute Chaîne du Jura (with only limited tolerance around nearby public chalets/refuges if they’re fully booked).

The hut sits inside a wildlife tranquility zone with a restriction period: entry to that zone is forbidden from December 15 to June 30 except on marked footpaths. Plan to respect reserve rules, pack out your waste, and avoid pets (pets are not allowed).
