Lagerwald Hütte
Lagerwald Hütte is a backcountry hut in the Vosges (Le Gresson area) used for unstaffed stays. It’s part of the “Chalets de la Doller” group of fuste huts built from larch and spruce, and it’s open year-round and free to use.
The hut has a wood stove/steel fireplace and is designed for hiking stops rather than vehicle access—no one can drive to the huts. For heat management, use the stove/chimney carefully and extinguish it before leaving. Firewood access is practical but bring your own planning: water isn’t at the hut itself, and you must go to the Ferme-Auberge du Gresson for a nearby water source. The hut includes sleeping arrangements, but the focus is on basic backcountry lodging and leaving the place clean, including packing out your trash.
