Lake Cobbler Hut

Lake Cobbler Hut sits beside Lake Cobbler in Victoria’s Alpine National Park and is used as emergency shelter rather than a reliable overnight accommodation. The hut was built in 1986 by the Wangaratta 4WD Club, replacing an earlier hut associated with grazing use in the area.

Plan for a self-sufficient backcountry setup: it has basic shelter with a drop toilet, and there’s no running water or power. Use around the hut is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with the surrounding area functioning as dispersed camping rather than booked sites.
