Le vieux Chéppy

Le vieux Chéppy is a free, unmanaged hunter’s cabin used as a backcountry sleeping option in the Aiguilles Rouges massif at 1,448 m. Plan for self-supported overnight use: it sleeps 4 on mattresses in the cabin, with a water source (the fontaine) available outside and a table/cutlery inside for basic meal prep.

Expect no dependable on-site management. The wood-burning stove is not usable, so bring a backup way to cook if you need hot food. The usual approach is via the steep, exposed trail from Servoz that tracks above the Diosaz gorges.
