Les Péchots

Les Péchots is a basic backcountry hut in the Haute-Savoie Alps (elevation about 1,254 m) used as a free, unmanaged shelter. It’s an open-access stop for hikers and local users—arrive ready to share space if others are already inside.

Use is on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation process. The hut is very small and simple (about 4 people on mattresses), with no caretaker on site and no running water; plan to carry what you need. There’s also no kitchen-style setup implied for the shelter itself—treat it as a place to sleep rather than to manage meals or hygiene. Near the hut there’s at least a small water source nearby (a short approach to a stream/fountain is described in the surrounding hut network).

Approach context: a common way to reach Les Péchots runs through the Diosaz gorges area on a rougher, less-traveled track where orientation can matter once you’re out of marked paths—so don’t rely on phone coverage.
