Lindley Hut

Lindley Hut is a winter backcountry hut in the Elk Mountains, operated by 10th Mountain Division Hut Association as part of the Alfred A. Braun Hut System. It’s at 10,480 ft and sleeps 14 people (4 doubles and 6 singles). Use requires a reservation, and there is a fee. The hut has a wood oven and a fire source, plus mattresses and pillows for sleeping; there’s no refrigeration and no shower (toilets are an outhouse setup).

Access is non-motorized and is primarily via ski touring routes: from Ashcroft the route follows Castle Creek Road south and then continues via the Cooper Basin / Cooper Creek area to the hut (the road passes below avalanche paths, so avalanche exposure is a core consideration). The hut is described as one of the easier-to-reach huts in the Aspen area, but avalanche hazards along the way are significant; routes are not marked or maintained between huts, so navigation planning is essential.
