Lonely Lake Hut

Lonely Lake Hut is a basic 3-bunk hut in Kahurangi National Park, in the Golden Bay area, run by the Department of Conservation. It’s a first-come, first-served option (no bookings required) for backcountry overnight stays, with use free of charge.

The hut has 3 bunk beds and toilet facilities, but no drinking water is provided and there’s no fireplace. Plan on bringing your own water and cold-weather shelter needs, and dispose of waste in the pit latrine provided.
