Markley Hut
Markley Hut is a backcountry wilderness hut in the Alfred A. Braun Hut System run by the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association. It’s a one-level hut with a loft that sleeps 8 people, sits at 10,400 feet, and is intended for winter ski touring in the Elk Mountains between Aspen and Crested Butte.
The hut is reserved—book through the operator’s online booking—at $320/night. The hut has a wood oven/heat system, a covered outhouse, firewood and cooking-gear basics are provided in winter, and it does not have refrigeration, potable water, a sauna, showers, or a grill/fire ring. Fire starting and wood-stove operation rely on winter supplies and you’ll want to plan for snow-melt water handling using the hut’s melting setup.
