Martin Lake Cabin

Martin Lake Cabin is a rustic backcountry hut in the Chugach National Forest, on the northwest end of Martin Lake about 42 miles east of Cordova. Access is by float plane only (typically around 30 minutes), landing on the lake next to the cabin; in fall, winter, and early spring the frozen lake can make float-plane access difficult.

The cabin is 12-by-14 feet and sleeps up to six. Inside there are wooden bunks and a table, wood stove, and oil stove, plus items like a saw, axe, and splitting maul; there’s a rainwater catchment barrel and an outdoor pit toilet, but no electricity or potable running water. Guests bring their own drinking water, firewood, and #1 stove oil, and pack out all food and trash while leaving the cabin clean for the next group.
