Mid Wairoa Hut
Mid Wairoa Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Mount Richmond Forest Park (Nelson/Tasman and Marlborough). It’s a standard hut with 8 bunks (sleeps 8) and is set up for first-come, first-served use—standard bookings aren’t required if you have a valid hut ticket for your night(s).
Facilities include a pit latrine and drinking water is not provided. The hut has a fireplace and mattresses. Fees apply through hut tickets: adult (18+) nights are $10 per night and youth (5–17) $5 per night (children 0–4 are free). For each night you stay, buy a Standard Hut Ticket (adult blue / youth yellow) and place it in the honesty box at the hut; alternatively, a Backcountry Hut Pass provides unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period. The Te Araroa Trail Pass can also be used by Te Araroa walkers.
