Mitchells Hut

Mitchells Hut is a backcountry wilderness hut operated by the Alpine Club of Canada in Little Yoho Valley (Yoho National Park). It’s set up for hut stays year-round, with summer use focused on hiking, scrambling, and mountaineering routes in the valley; in winter it becomes a base for ski touring and related pursuits.

The hut sleeps 22 people in summer and 22 in winter, with communal sleeping on mattress-equipped bunks. Cooking is supported by a fully equipped kitchen with propane stoves, and the hut has an outhouse plus basic washing facilities. Rates are set by season, and reservations are handled through the Alpine Club of Canada; summer access is via a strenuous hike from Takakkaw Falls parking lot, while winter access is a full-day backcountry ski approach from the Trans-Canada Highway. The hut uses a pack-in, pack-out approach for all trash and food waste.
