Myttons Hut

Myttons Hut is a basic 4-bunk backcountry hut in Cobb Valley within Kahurangi National Park (Nelson/Tasman). Managed by the Department of Conservation, it’s for walkers using the hut as a bivvy base rather than a booking-based accommodation option. Use is free and no bookings are required—bunks are first come, first served.

The hut is equipped with mattresses and a fireplace, and it has a pit latrine for toilets. Water is available but untreated, so plan to filter or treat before use. The hut is considered an advanced destination, with the approach described as about 5 hr 30 min one way; a typical route length to plan for is part of the broader Cobb Valley access into Kahurangi National Park.
