Old Geehi Hut
Old Geehi Hut is the historic stone hut in the Kosciuszko National Park area south of Khancoban, accessed via 4WD trails off Alpine Way and used in conjunction with the Old Geehi campsite. The hut sits along the Geehi huts walking track, so it fits naturally with a hut-circuit that links the historic huts around the Swampy Plain River corridor.
Camping at Old Geehi is ticketed through the park camping system: there are no camping fees, but a $6 booking fee applies, and group bookings can be made for up to 20 people or 5 sites online. The campground is closed in winter during the June to October long-weekend period. Plan for limited connectivity—there is no cell service in the area—so have your booking confirmation saved before you go.
The campground is set beside the Swampy Plain River and is set up for tent camping beside your vehicle, with toilets, barbecue facilities, and picnic tables; bring your own drinking water, cooking water, and firewood. Nearby activities in the area include walks along the Geehi huts track, 4WD routes, cycling and fishing, and there are multiple river crossings in the hut-walking network—don’t cross when water is deep or fast flowing.
