Pelnor Hollow Lean-To
Pelnor Hollow Lean-To is a primitive, Adirondack-style backcountry shelter on state public land in the Delaware Wild Forest. Use is first-come, first-served with no booking or reservation required, and the shelter is maintained by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. It’s sized for about 6 backpackers, and there’s a large stone fire pit outside; a primitive water source sits downhill from the lean-to.
To reach Pelnor Hollow Lean-To, plan on an approach by trail from the Mary Smith Hill Trail or by trail from the Pelnor Hollow Trail. Expect lean-to camping in a sparse campsite setup—this is not a full campground—so come prepared to handle your own shelter and water collection/processing logistics.
