Premier chalet de Combe Madame
Premier chalet de Combe Madame is a free-access backcountry hut at 1,430 m on the Belledonne massif, used for winter and emergency shelter. It sleeps about 8 people and has mattresses, drinking water, toilets, and a fireplace/wood stove.
Expect minimal comforts: there is no shower, and fuel/water logistics are not something to assume—plan to bring what you need and treat the hut as unguided shelter rather than a serviced lodge. The hut is accessible (open use), and it sits around the Combe Madame route roughly halfway up, just above the tree line.
