Refuge de Basse Rua

Refuge de Basse Rua is a backcountry refuge in the Val d’Escreins area near Guillestre (05600). It’s positioned at about 1,760 m and provides overnight stays for hikers on multi-day routes linking the Queyras and Haute-Ubaye regions (GR5 and GR58).

Sleeping is centered on dormitories (two dorms of 10 and one of 4) for a total of 24 places. The refuge also runs a table d’hôte; it offers a traditional local evening meal with local specialties, and tartiflette made with local cheeses. The hut has use periods from mid-June to mid-September, with daily opening in July and August; in June and September you’re asked to call to let the staff know your plan. Credit card payments by CB/Visa/Mastercard are not accepted.
