Refuge de Buffère
Refuge de Buffère is a backcountry hut near Névache in the Vallée de la Clarée (around 2076 m), set in the Vallon de Buffère. It’s an on-trail base for multi-activity trips in the area, with access from the village of Névache either on foot or by ski de randonnée.
Use is by reservation online. Bring a drap-sac (sack liner) and your toiletries; animals aren’t admitted in the chalets. Terraces are non-smoking, and there are dry toilets outside for the daytime. The hut asks guests to remove crampons and raquettes before going onto terraces or into the refuge, and ski touring gear and raquettes are stored outside on the ski rack. Evening meal is at 19:00 and breakfast at 7:15; bivouac by the hut is not allowed.
Openings posted for this hut are summer 2026 from Saturday 13 June to Sunday 13 September 2026, and winter 2026–2027 from 27 December 2026 to mid-April. Pricing for 2026 includes half-board at €63 for adults (plus a local tourist tax), €50 for children under 12, and €35 for children under 5, with set prices also listed for a guide/accompagnateur, packed lunch, and casse-croûte.
