Refuge de Caillauas

Refuge de Caillauas is a small, unstaffed stone shelter at 2,160 m on the lakeside area below the Caillauas dam. It’s used as an emergency stop and for overnighting when you’re passing through the Lac de Caillauas sector, with sleeping for up to 4 people.

The shelter is very basic: it has a chimney and water is available nearby. Expect minimal comforts and bring your own gear as for an emergency bivouac—local conditions and recent state of fittings can vary. Use the nearby guarded option at Refuge de la Soula for a staffed refuge experience and overnight bookings/meal planning when you want full refuge service.
