Refuge de la Charpoua

Refuge de la Charpoua (also called Refuge Charlet) is a small mountain refuge on the French side of the Mont Blanc massif, at the foot of the Drus and Aiguille Verte, managed by the Compagnie des guides de Chamonix. It sits at 2,841 m and has a single main room with room for 12 people (a capacity that reflects the refuge’s compact footprint).

Access is described from Montenvers: cross the Mer de Glace and then reach the chemin des balcons de la Mer de Glace; the approach was modified in 2016. The refuge was inaugurated in 1904, and it closed on 25 August 2022 for reconstruction at the same location, with a reopening planned for spring 2023.
