Refuge de la Combe de Fer

Refuge de la Combe de Fer is a small, unguarded backcountry hut in the Vercors area (about 1,555 m). It’s maintained by the Groupe Spéléo de La Tronche (FLT) and is used mainly as a base for exploring nearby karst caves.

The hut has 4 sleeping places: 2 on the floor and 2 in a cramped upper loft; when the lower floor is used for sleeping, movement inside becomes difficult. Cooking is possible with a working gas cooker, and there are covers/blankets; gas availability isn’t guaranteed. There’s no drinking water on site (the nearest water may require descending underground), so bring all your water and food, plus your own sleeping system.
