Refuge de la Pilatte

Refuge de la Pilatte is a Club Alpin Français backcountry hut in the Alps near 2,577 m, with accommodation for up to 120 people. Use is currently closed: the refuge is shut to the public for safety reasons because accelerated glacier melt has destabilized the rock foundation, and the access area is forbidden under a municipal order. Both buildings (the main refuge and the winter shelter) are closed, and there is no emergency shelter on site; no accommodation or food services are offered while the closure remains in effect.
