Refuge de l'Aigle
Refuge de l’Aigle is a Club Alpin Français backcountry hut in the Écrins, perched around 3,450 m above the Vallée de la Romanche on the Rocher de l’Aigle near the north side of the Meije. It serves alpinists and is also used by ski tourers on the Tour de la Meije in spring.
The hut has 30 sleeping places and one main room that combines dormitory and dining, with a renovated interior that preserves the single-room layout and the former chalet structure from 1910. During the staffed period it takes reservations; outside of gardiennage, the hut remains available with 30 sleeping places. Parking/approach details are not covered here—plan your route to reach the hut via the high-mountain routes around the Meije area and arrive prepared for full backcountry conditions.
