Refuge de Larrieux
Refuge de Larrieux is a guarded alpine hut near Thônes, set in the Vallée de Montremont at an elevation of 1,532 m. It sits on the GR96 route and is used as a base for day hikes and multi-day routes in the Bornes / Aravis area, including approaches toward Dent du Cruet and Pointe de Talamarche.
Use requires advance reservation. The hut has a maximum capacity of 19 beds in 2 dormitories, and it offers dinner and lunch service à la carte; the permanent food program includes regional dishes such as tartiflette, fondue, diots, and polenta (ordered via reservation). Half-board is priced at about €47 for adults and about €42 for children under 12, with overnight stays from about €17 (seasonal pricing window given for 2026).
The main access is a roughly 2-hour hike from the nearest car park in the Montremont valley, covering about 741 m of elevation gain. Access is also possible by way of the Lindion or by the Col des Nantets route. The hut operates seasonally from early May to mid-October, and it accepts pets.
