Refuge de l'Olan

Refuge de l'Olan is a high-mountain backcountry hut run by the Club Alpin Français, positioned at the base of the Olan massif—at the foot of the south-east face of Olan (3558 m) and near the peaks of the cime du Vallon (3409 m) and La Rouye (3085 m). It serves as a starting point for climbing and scrambling routes on the Olan area, as well as a stop on the Haute route du Valgaudemar (including a variant of GR®54) and a link for the loop involving the refuge des Soufles.

It has 54 sleeping places in total across 4 dormitories when staffed, and 10 sleeping places across 1 dormitory outside guarding. For the staffed season in summer 2026, the refuge is guarded from Saturday 6 June to Saturday 19 September inclusive, and reservations are handled via the refuge website’s reservation process for summer season use. Bedding guidance: bring your own personal sleeping sheet (“drap de couchage individuel”).
