Refuge de Loriaz
Refuge de Loriaz is a backcountry mountain hut run by Mairie de Vallorcine, set at 2,020 m altitude in the Vallorcine area. It has a maximum capacity of 49 people, and reservations are required; there is a charge and payment is by cash. In winter the hut can accommodate up to 30 people across 2 dormitories.
The refuge operates seasonally: it is closed and reopens on 13 June, with reservations for summer open, and winter 2026/2027 reservations expected online starting in September 2026. Typical day routes from the hut include Col de la Terrasse (about 2 hours walk) and Pointe de la Terrasse (about 2h30), and longer options include the Cheval Blanc route (about 5 hours via the Col de la Terrasse) and higher targets such as Le Buet (more demanding).
