Refuge de Plan Glacier
Refuge de Plan Glacier is a small, altitude hut on the French side of the Mont Blanc massif (2,680 m), serving as a base for demanding hikes and alpinism from the Miage glacier area. It sleeps 18 people and is owned by the municipality of Saint-Gervais.
The refuge is staffed from Friday evening 12 June through Tuesday 8 September 2026; outside that summer window it stays open but unguarded. Access is by an exigent hike, and there can be snow/need for snow-clearing work to reach it in shoulder seasons.
Inside, there’s a dormitory with covers, but you’re expected to bring a sleeping bag liner (at minimum a sac à viande) for hygiene. There is no running water and no toilets, and there’s no gas available in the hut; a balise for PGHM calls and a fire extinguisher are placed inside the dormitory.
