Refuge de Platé
Refuge de Platé is a Club alpin français backcountry refuge in the Giffre massif area (2032 m). It has 35 beds across 3 sleeping areas, in a small 1-storey hut building. Overnight use is split between the staffed summer period (with a larger number of beds) and winter dormitory access outside the guarded season.
Summer opening runs from 15 June to 12 September 2026 (staffed mid-June to mid-September). Sleepers should bring a drap-sac (sack liner); pillows and duvets/blankets are provided. Water is scarce because there’s no nearby spring, so you can’t rely on the refuge for refilling; bottled water is sold on site. Dining is served at 18:30—plan to arrive a bit earlier.
Booking is handled through the refuge’s reservation system: placing the deposit online locks in your spots immediately; other requests can be done by email or phone with a deposit. The bivouac is free and allowed, and the refuge asks users to be considerate; if you bivouac and want meals or a picnic, reserve in advance by contacting the refuge.
