Refuge de Pré-Large

Refuge de Pré-Large is a small unstaffed mountain cabin at about 1,575 m in the Chartreuse area. It’s designed for self-sufficient overnighters: use is free and there’s no booking—sleeping space is limited to around 3 people on a first-come, first-served basis.

The refuge has a wood stove with a fireplace (a chimney connection is present), but there’s no drinking water and no toilets or showers. Expect very basic shelter capacity rather than bedding: mattress and blankets aren’t provided, so plan to bring your own sleeping system and carry everything you need (including water).
