Refuge des Conscrits

Refuge des Conscrits is a backcountry mountain hut operated by Club Alpin Français in the Mont Blanc massif above the right bank of the Tré-la-Tête glacier, near Les Contamines-Montjoie. It sits around 2,610 m and provides a base for routes over the Tré-la-Tête area, including climbs such as Dômes de Miage, Aiguille de la Bérangère, Aiguilles de Tré-la-Tête, Lex Blanche, and Mont Tondu.

The hut is staffed in two main periods: winter season from 21 March to 2 May 2026, and summer season from 29 May to 27 September 2026. Total capacity is 90 beds during staffed periods, with 10 beds and 1 dormitory configuration when the refuge is not under guard; use requires booking (reservation required).

Access management has changed for winter: the winter approach route was modified and secured during autumn 2025 due to retreating/unstable glacier conditions, and a new route uses the upper part of the Tré la Grande cliff line (avoiding areas that could freeze and turn slippery). It remains a high-mountain approach intended for experienced parties equipped for alpine travel, and the summer footbridge is not usable during winter until it reopens around June depending on snow conditions.
