Refuge des Girards
Refuge des Girards is an unstaffed wilderness hut near Saoû, at the foot of the Trois Becs in the forest. It’s always open and is designed for self-sufficiency: bring what you need, and expect limited services.
Inside, there are sleeping platforms (“bat-flanc”), plus a table and benches. The hut includes a wood stove; making a fire is restricted to this stove location, with no fireplace provided in the hut. The hut is sized for up to 12 people for sleeping.
Water isn’t supplied at the hut. The nearest accessible water is a fountain by the Auberge des Dauphins (a hike from the hut; plan on carrying in at least for the first night). If you want to camp nearby, bivouacking is allowed within 100 m of the refuge for a maximum of 1 night, between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM.
