Refuge des Mouterres

Refuge des Mouterres is a backcountry Alpine-style hut on the Plateau d’Emparis at 2250 m, operated by RCS Grenoble. It’s a collective accommodation—no private rooms—so groups share a common sleeping area with a dormitory layout using mezzanine cabins for about 4–5 people each; the hut sleeps up to 25 total.

Current use rules focus on preparing for limited services: bring your own bedding such as a “sac à viande,” and plan for limited electricity (you’re asked to bring your own device-charging setup). Showers are available but can be closed if water is scarce; doubles of hot water are managed with a small hot-water setup. The hut also states it is not a gîte and that no private room arrangements are offered.
