Refuge des Souffles
Refuge des Souffles is a Club Alpin Français backcountry hut in the Ecrins, above Villard-Loubière, at 1969 m. The refuge operates as a staffed stop during the guarded season, with three dormitories and a total of 30 couchages.
The hut is on the GR54 network nearby, and it’s also used as an overnight base for ideas like a 2-day outing around the Lac Lautier, the Pas de l’Olan, and the refuge de l’Olan. It offers 30 places in guarded period (with a smaller number of places listed for outside the guarded period) and is bookable online; the guarded season runs from mid-June to mid-September. The hut provides accommodation with small dormitories, a dining room, hot showers, and warm-facing terrace space. Personnel contact includes a gardien listed on the official hut page.
