Refuge des Tinderets

Refuge des Tinderets is a backcountry alpine hut on the commune of Abondance in Haute-Savoie, run by Louison Brunet & Benoit Michon. It sits about an hour’s walk from Lac des Plagnes and is designed for hikers in both summer and winter.

The hut is made up of two independent buildings. The larger building includes an 18-bed dormitory and a dining room, and both buildings have a kitchen area with gas, cookware, and dishes for self-catered use. The second building (the bergerie) has a dormitory that accommodates 8 to 13 people depending on season and the stay format. It’s equipped with a wood stove for winter comfort.

Use can be arranged as either free management (full self-sufficiency) or half-board with dinner, a night’s stay, and breakfast. During the year, the official nearby hiking offerings include a marked “Sentier Découverte” focused on alpine plants; in winter, the refuge offers activities such as night snowshoe outings tied to fondue and local cheese traditions.
