Refuge du Grieb
Refuge du Grieb is a backcountry alpine hut run by the Club Sportif Vosgien Mulhouse, tucked along the forest edge near the Griebkopf. It’s a small, simple refuge with minimum comfort, designed for overnights rather than full lodge services.
It’s accessed from the lac / Markstein road area via the auberge du Grieb; after the auberge, continue about 500 m. The hut setup is aimed at groups: capacity is 25 people, with sleeping arranged in 2 dormitories. A water system isn’t intended as an all-season convenience—there is no hot water—so come prepared with a sleeping bag or sheets and pillowcases.
Use is practical rather than luxurious: the hut includes a washroom area (2 bathrooms) and 2 separate toilets, plus a terrace. The on-site kitchen can be used, and meals are possible from what you bring. Facilities for active visitors include a garage à vélos (bike storage) and common play options such as table tennis.
