Refuge du habert d'Aiguebelle
Refuge du habert d'Aiguebelle is a backcountry mountain hut in the Massif de Belledonne on the GR 738 traverse, at about 1,740 m. It offers sleeping by reservation, with 38 bunks in 7 dormitories, plus on-site meals and drinks for hikers making day routes out from the refuge (no Wi‑Fi and no mobile network at the refuge).
Reservations are made by phone or email, and the hut uses cash or cheques only (no card payments). For an arrival before 18:30 you’ll have time to settle before the meal; at the hut, keep nighttime quiet, take your waste back down (no waste pickup from the refuge), store packs and shoes in the entry vestibule, and bring a “sac à viande” (a drape/sack for hygiene in the dormitories).
From the refuge, the official outings listed include: Lac du Venétier (~1h), Cime de la Jasse (~2h), Col de l’Aigleton (~1h30), Station de prapoutel (~2h), Refuge de Jean Collet via the Brèche de Roche fendue + Col de la Mine de Fer (~6–7h), and Refuge des 7 Laux via the Col de la Vache (~6h). In winter conditions, the same general outings are also possible as ski touring, with late-season snow possible on high passes.
