Refuge du Portillon

Refuge du Portillon is a backcountry refuge in the French Pyrenees, run by the Club Alpin Français. It sits near the lake of the same name and works as a base for high-mountain routes in a cirque of 12 summits above 3,000 m, including granite crests and faces.

The refuge sleeps 80 people with 7 dormitories during the guarded season. Outside guard hours, there are 30 sleeping places (winter room) in a section that is not guarded. Basic facilities listed for 2021 include running water, showers, plus a stove and cookware; a dedicated area also has insulation, a water point, and mattresses for the unguarded section. Guarding runs from mid-May (14 May) to mid-October (18 October) for the 2026 season.
