Refuge du Pré La Chaumette
Refuge du Pré La Chaumette is an FFCAM backcountry hut in the Parc national des Écrins, in the Vallée de Champoléon. The refuge sits at about 1,803 m (official page also references ~1,810 m) and provides a base for hiking in the Champsaur–Valgaudemar area, including the GR54 between Vallouise and La Chapelle-en-Valgaudemar.
It is managed during the main summer season, from mid-June to late September. During staffed periods it offers 60 places (and outside gardiennage there are 14 places), and it’s equipped with hot showers and a “salle hors sac.” For the stay, bring a sleeping bag/lodging liner (a couch/lodging sheet is requested). After the autumn 2023 rockfall, access via the forest road on the left bank (rive gauche) is not passable for the 2024 season; reaching the refuge from the valley of Champoléon involves using the trail on the right bank (rive droite).
