Refuge du Sélé
Refuge du Sélé is a backcountry refuge operated by Club Alpin Français in the Ecrins, set at 2504 m on a prominent rock outcrop. It has 76 sleeping places, and when the refuge is staffed it can provide food/restoration service. The refuge is a key base for mountaineers accessing routes toward Ailefroides, pointe des boeufs rouges, and Pic du Sélé.
Access is from Ailefroide in about 3 hours, reaching a small plateau where you can see the glacier du Sélé and its ice cave; the final stretch includes an equipped rocky section with handrails over a rock band. Booking is required for stays at the refuge, with the main staffed period running from the end of May to mid-September.
