Refuge Gardiol is an unguarded backcountry refuge managed by Conseil Départemental de la Drôme on the Plateau d’Ambel (near Omblèze). It’s designed for self-service stays—no reservation system—and is used year-round.

Sleeping capacity is 13. The refuge is equipped with a wood-burning stove and has a substantial wood reserve for winter use. There are dry toilets, and an outdoor water fountain is available just below the road near the picnic tables under the trees.

Access is via the D199 between the Col de la Bataille and Lente; the road is closed in winter. The refuge operates as a managed space for non-booked use, and visitors are expected to keep the area clean, take their trash with them, and conserve the provided firewood.
