Refuge HUS
Refuge HUS is a backcountry hut run by Ski Club Mulhouse, used as a base for walkers in the Ballons des Vosges area. The refuge has a large common room heated by a Kachelhoffa. Meals and drinks are not served there; each group uses the provided kitchen, and you can also bring your own food. For meals out, you can go to Auberge HUSS (about 200 m away) or SCHAFERT (about 2.1 km away), but those are closed from the beginning of November through the end of April.
Sleeping is in 4 dormitories for up to 31 people. A sleeping bag and/or sheets are required; bedding can be rented on site. The refuge isn’t rented out in full—accommodation is limited to groups of 10 people maximum when reserving ahead. One night costs €15 per person, while a day stay (“simple passage en journée”) costs €3 per person. The kitchen is available, and the refuge has wash facilities including lavabos/douche.
