Refuge Packe
Refuge Packe is an unguided backcountry refuge run by the Club Alpin Français de Lourdes-Cauterets in the Neouvielle area near Betpouey, at 2495 m. It sleeps 8 people, with 1 dormitory, and is equipped for self-service use with tables/benches and a stove; there are mattresses (and blankets), plus electricity and emergency radio. The refuge is not kept by a caretaker and operates “hors gardiennage,” with payment handled after your stay.
There’s no fireplace, showers, or toilets provided. Water is available at the nearby Lac du Pourtet, about 400 m behind the refuge. It’s used mainly by hikers on the Tour du Néouvielle, but it’s also used by alpinists aiming for peaks such as Pic Long, Turon de Néouvielle, Pic de la Coume de l’Ours, and Pic des trois Conseillers.
