Refuge Vallot
Refuge Vallot (also shown as Capanna Vallot) is an unheated emergency bivouac shelter on the upper slopes of Mont Blanc in the Mont Blanc massif, run by Club Alpin Français. It sits on the west ridge of Mont Blanc at the foot of the Bosse Inférieure, near the Vallot observatory, and is intended for emergency use rather than as a regular base for ascending Mont Blanc.
The shelter is not staffed (“non gardé”) and provides 12 sleeping places. Use it only if you’re properly acclimatized—bivouacking at altitude without acclimation can be dangerous. It serves as a refuge for climbers in difficulty, especially those descending or getting off routes on the south side of Mont Blanc.
