Saxon Hut

Saxon Hut is a 16-bunk backcountry hut in Kahurangi National Park, on the Heaphy Track in the Golden Bay area. It’s managed by the Department of Conservation and is one of the seven Heaphy Track huts.

The hut has platform bunks and mattresses provided, but you need to bring your own sleeping bag. Facilities include heating, gas cooking, cold running water, and long-drop pit latrines with toilet paper; there are no showers, and there is no lighting.

Great Walk bookings are required for stays at Saxon Hut. Fees are per person, per night, and Backcountry Hut Passes and Backcountry Hut Tickets can’t be used here.
