Sluice Wall

Sluice Wall is a small crag in the Crest Creek climbing area near Crest Lake and the Crest Creek delta, east of Gold River on Vancouver Island. The wall has six listed sport routes, ranging from 5.8 to 5.11a and 20 to 27 m in length.

The route selection includes Widowmaker (5.10d, 27 m), a face climb leading to a bulge; Yellow Ribbon (5.11a, 26 m), a face-to-roof crack; Nobody’s Business (5.10a, 25 m), combining a corner, crack, and face; and Sluice Crack (5.8, 20 m). Two additional lines are Captain Planet and Earthly Delights.

Approach conditions depend on Crest Creek’s water level. With low or dry water, cross the creek bed to reach the base. At higher water, take the Powerline trail from the pipeline crossing, then follow the spur descending to Sluice Wall.
