Starveall Hut

Starveall Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Mount Richmond Forest Park (Nelson/Tasman). It’s set on the Te Araroa Trail and uses a standard 6-bunk layout, making it a straightforward Te Araroa-style overnight stop in the Motueka area.

Bookings aren’t required; beds are first come, first served. Fees apply, and you’re expected to buy a Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut. The hut has 6 beds, drinking water is untreated, and it includes a fireplace, mattresses, and toilets with pit latrine disposal.
