Stone Hut

Stone Hut is a standard 10-bunk backcountry hut in Kahurangi National Park (Nelson/Tasman region), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s first come, first served—no bookings are required, but you do need to purchase a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut.

The hut is set up with mattresses, a fireplace, and toilets (pit latrine). Fees apply: $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4). A ticket/pass policy shift is scheduled from 1 July 2026, with updated hut and sole-occupancy fees afterward.
