Taft Lodge

Taft Lodge is a Green Mountain Club backcountry lodge/shelter near Stowe on the Long Trail. It provides basic shelter in a primitive setup with wooden bunks and an outhouse/privy, and it’s maintained during the hiking season by a caretaker.

It sleeps about 24 people on wooden bunk platforms; plan to bring your own sleeping pad and sleeping bag. No electricity, heating, or running water are provided, and any nearby stream/other water needs treatment. Overnight use is first-come, first-served with no advance reservations; if it’s full, you may need alternate camping. Water-treated, and bring a tent/tarp as a backup for busy periods.
